My project demonstrates the crucial role coaches are as mentors, especially for athletes from underprivileged areas. It underscores the need for coaches to be more accessible and supportive, providing guidance and comfort to young athletes who often lack such resources in their communities. I decided to emphasize areas that are less fortunate because they are more vulnerable to mentorship. Without this type of support it’s hard to succeed in the world we live in. Promoting mentorship towards these people can make society a better place.

My original question for my project was is it ethical to persuade coaches to emphasize the importance of academics to their athletes? With further research and advice, I then decided to address an undergraduate club at OSU to educate them on the benefits of mentorship and being a coach. The target audience for my project is the undergraduate students apart of the club who have the hope of one day becoming a coach. These upcoming coaches are hopeful of one day taking control of a team. And at this point of their lives they are still students and listen to others often. And representing this data and expressing my relationship my past coach can motivate them moving forward with their experiences. I have learned from this process that it is hard to perfectly draft on the first go around. I was suggested from peer review to change my target audience towards coaches becoming mentors and how it will impact their players.

This draft meets my original goal of helping underprivileged athletes have a better focus on education. Although I switched gears and put it more on the coaches my plan is for these students to take note of what I teach them and then put it to action on their players.
