Turnitin's AI tool

I understand from the session that TII ran on Monday (AI: Friend or foe) that the promised AI detection tool from Turnitin is on its way, and fairly soon. We have a number of concerns about this tool, including the fact that we won't have any material prepared, the students will not be expecting - they know what Turnitin currently does. We can't prepare staff or students for the updates to the reports (and flags caused a lot of questions ...).
Is anyone here involved with any pilot projects, they didn't mention any on Monday, and I've not heard anybody mentioning them, in the way Originality was introduced, when a number of instutions were trialling it.

Thanks Emma Duke-Williams, and you are certainly not alone in having these concerns. Based on feedback received from our customers, we're working at an accelerated pace to make this technology available at the earliest possible date. Given the short timeframe, we're therefore unable to provide a trial phase for this preview launch. However, we will communicating with our customers prior to the launch and will be providing details and documentation to help you understand how our capabilities work.

If you or others have any further concerns please speak directly to your Account Manager who will liaise directly with our Product team.

Gill Rowell our university just received an email notice that the AI writing detection service will be available on April 4th which is 6 days from now. What the email does not indicate is whether this "availability" is for the administrator to turn on, or if it's automatically available for all existing customers. It reads more like the latter.

We are very concerned about this going through automatically without having had a chance to review how this may affect our faculty and students and develop a corresponding plan. I have emailed our sales rep who is away until next week.

Is there any information that can be provided immediately in this forum as to what the expected behavior is going to be on April 4th?

      Thank you,

Speaking as someone who has been paying close attention to the AI tools and the detection tools for a few months now, I am quite eager to see what TurnItIn delivers to my institution. Whether we'll use it immediately, after some training, or not at all is way beyond my pay grade, but I'm enthused to have it analyze discussion posts and assignment submissions both.
