Problems submitting student work on Turnitin.com

The last few days, I have been unable to submit student assignments to turnitin. I can get to the Submit Paper stage, which appears immediately after I upload the files. What I see in the new window is a dropdown menu that asks me to select the student to whom the work belongs. I never used to have to do this. I would never enroll students, I simply upload the papers en masse and have turnitin give me similarity scores.  I was wondering if I had inadvertently tinkered with a setting--unlikely, as I hardly ever go into user or assignment settings--so I created a new assignment, and the problem persists. If I create a student, and then select that student, the blue Submit button gets darker, and I can click on it. But it won't let me assign more than one assignment to the same student. I would have to create dozens of student names, and then manually select them, for each assignment. Turnitin never used to require this. What option can I select, that takes me back to how it used to be?

    As of late Sept 2023, Turnitin no longer accepts submissions from unenrolled students. Please see the following support center article for further information.

      Karen Smith That's very disappointing. I was hoping it was a glitch of some kind. I do thank you for letting me know, so  my college tech support & myself don't go on a wild goose chase looking for a cause.

      I find that students will use turnitin.com to get the similarity score down, by changing a few words here and there, after plagiarizing larger chunks of text, so I'd rather not have them submit the work themselves. I have used turnitin.com to submit the written work myself.

      Paul Rittman You're welcome and I'm sorry it's not the answer you want. I will say that changing a few words here and there shouldn't significantly change that number. 

      Maybe some of the resources from our Disrupting Plagiarism page might help from an instructional standpoint.

      We understand that the recent change in the feature of not allowing submissions for non-enrolled students might need you to tweak your workflow; however here are the reasons why this was essential:

      1. Ensure your data security is preserved and no one is able to misuse your account/licenses for any unethical practices which can lead to you or other students facing very adverse consequences going forward

      2. Create a formative learning environment for your students where they can submit their papers, review your feedback on the paper itself (through the grademark tools) and re-submit (only if the assignment settings are enabled for the same), if necessary. Please be assured that it is very difficult for a student to misuse the system through this workflow (the re-submission window will be blocked for 24 hrs after every 3 resubmissions). On the other hand, instructors will have more time to review the papers and provide better qualitative feedback to the students

      3. Ensure your available licenses are properly utilized
