How to interpret exclusion
The similarity reports on one of our assignments have an exclusion included automatically, with low similarity score initially. But when the exclusion is removed, the score jumped to 61%. With such a big difference, it's not clear what was excluded as there is no additional highlighted text to indicate where the overlaps are. The only thing we know is that the excluded source is from a submission within our school dated 3rd Nov.
Given that a similar draft assignment didn't have such pre-selected exclusion, we are speculating that this excluded source points to each student's own draft submission. However, with this attached example, the student submitted his work on the 4th Nov, rather than 3rd Nov as indicated in the excluded source description.
We are a little confused. Could someone help us please?
