Turnitin AI similarity is not showing

I have an instructor account, and with that account I can't check the AI percentage now. What is the problem?

I have the same issue, Turnitin; what is the problem? This is slowing down my work. I have imminent submissions.

    Hi turnitinhelpbd & ernest nwosupgs

Check with your institution's account administrator to see if they have purchased AI detection starting Jan 1, 2024.

This is major issue. As a teacher in the US, most schools operate Sept to June. I have been working with the belief that I would be using the AI function for my whole school year. I started with it and would like to finish with it. Now I have student papers that were submitted weeks ago and now I can't AI review them. Didn't it make sense for turnitin to

    a) tell everyone what is going on and when it would be put into place

    b) grandfather in the papers that are already up

    c) follow the school year, not calendar year.

I am the ed tech specialist at my school, and teachers are NOT happy with this change.  We have teachers who have already SEEN the AI reports for papers that showed issues, and now they can't even access those results for the same papers to show the students the proof.  I know that AI is a new frontier for turnitin and you are making changes on the fly, but any person who decided Jan 1 was a good time to make changes to an educational product, retroactively clawing back results already generated, needs to get more experience in education and schools.  Unacceptable change.

Also, your help pages should reflect the changes to the AI system.  You are currently pages say nothing about the Jan 1 change, leading teachers to continue to trouble shoot why it is not working.  If it is too sudden a change for your own documentation team, it is too sudden of a change to make.

We made the decision to provide free access to our AI detection capabilities during the preview phase to support educators during an unprecedented time of rapid change. We received a significant amount of positive feedback from customers, and we acted on that feedback.

The decision to move to a paid licensing structure beginning January 2024 was made to ensure that we can continue to provide high-quality AI writing detection features to our customers. This enables us to invest in further research and development and improve our infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

This is also in-line with our overall product strategy wherein we will continue to develop new capabilities to meet the changing requirements of our customers and to ensure we keep pace with technological enhancements. Some of these new features will form part of our base offering such as the new Similarity Report, and will be included in the price of the license, while others will be considered as premium capabilities such as AI writing, and will be available at an additional cost.

      Communicating this change to customers
We sent multiple emails to all Turnitin administrators informing them in advance of this upcoming change and asking them to further cascade this information to instructors and other users that AI writing will not be available to them from January 1, 2024. Emails were sent in Sept and Oct. We also deployed in-product notifications in Oct & Dec to alert users about the change.

Joseph Cavanaugh I am linking the help page here - the first sentence addresses this change, and while I cannot say for sure when this was updated, I would assume it was changed during the last part of the year when the email documentation was sent to Turnitin administrators.

How do we find out who the Turnitin administrator is? The teacher who I'm assuming was the administrator retired the year Covid hit.  I am not sure this was transferred to anyone, and the emails probably went to an account that doesn't exist any longer.

Definitely a problem all across the board for educators -

Sarah Perkett I'm sorry that I am just seeing this. If this hasn't been resolved yet within your institution, would you mind letting me know your institution name and location, please? I can maybe do some checking on this end and see if we can figure something out to help out here.

Can you tell me (as an administrator) how to get a license and how much it costs?

      Hi Jenny Graupensperger

Your best way to get that information is to fill out this form so someone can contact you for what product you are interested in, etc.

My school has purchased this feature and set this up for all instructors. Some of the instructors have this visible, while some do not. What is the workaround?

Karen Smith the instructor account is already created. The AI feature appears in the similarity report for few of the instructors only though enabled for all. The admin has checked the setup and AI is enabled for all and yet visible for all the instructors. Any pointers ?

Harini Muralidharan My apologies for misreading the first time around!

I hope I am directing you correctly this time! Try this help article. These are some common reasons why an AI score might not appear. Is that the issue or is the AI indicator not showing at all? If that is the case, I would recommend opening a support ticket. You can fill out this form online or email tiisupport@turnitin.com.
