AI report
I wrote a text 100% by myself. However, the Turnitin report is showing AI of (*9%), and the text in which it is highlighted is 100% my own text. Why is it so? May someone guide me, please?
"*9% of qualifying text in this submission has been determined to be generated by AI. * Low scores have a higher likelihood of false positives."
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Dr. Muhammad Mumtaz
If you find AI written documents that we've missed, or notice authentic student work that we've predicted as AI-generated, please let us know! Your feedback is crucial in enabling us to improve our technology further. You can provide feedback via the ‘feedback’ button found in the AI writing report.
Sometimes false positives (incorrectly flagging human-written text as AI-generated), can include lists without a lot of structural variation, text that literally repeats itself, or text that has been paraphrased without developing new ideas. If our indicator shows a higher amount of AI writing in such text, we advise you to take that into consideration when looking at the percentage indicated.
In a longer document with a mix of authentic writing and AI generated text, it can be difficult to exactly determine where the AI writing begins and original writing ends, but our model should give you a reliable guide to start conversations with the submitting student.
In shorter documents where there are only a few hundred words, the prediction will be mostly "all or nothing" because we're predicting on a single segment without the opportunity to overlap. This means that some text that is a mix of AI-generated and original content could be flagged as entirely AI-generated.
Please consider these points as you are reviewing the data and following up with students or others.
The above information was taken from our FAQs, and I hope it answers your question! -
I have encountered an issue with an AI report. After consulting all the reports on AI, I discovered that some of the students' papers, despite the Generative PreTrained Transformer indicating that it generated them, show a 0% match according to the AI integrated into my account. As an instructor representing my school, most of my colleagues' feedback on these papers strongly suggests that they have been plagiarized. Furthermore, the similarity report only shows a small percentage of similarity. To ensure academic honesty and originality, I have submitted numerous papers to Cambridge as required. In line with this, I have also submitted some papers based on the results provided by Turnitin. Could you please assist in resolving these issues? Thank you for your support.

Hello -
Thank you for reaching out. Your feedback is crucial in enabling us to improve our AI technology further. You can also provide feedback via the ‘feedback’ button found in the AI writing report.
It's worth considering the conversation above between Dr. Muhammed Mumtaz and our Turnitin moderator, Karen Smith.
This means that some text that is a mix of AI-generated and original content could be flagged as entirely AI-generated or in your case, none at all.
In the end, it sounds like you may need to explore several different avenues to find your answer. Try a few of the following:
- Check out our FAQs for AI writing detection
- Speak to the Turnitin administrator within your institution
- Reach out directly to our Support Team (support@turnitin.com) or visit our Support Center for a library of resources
I hope this helps-
Warmly,
Audrey
