AI writing tools: where are we now?

As classes resume in some parts of the world, and the academic year continues in others, how are views on the use of AI writing tools evolving as we learn to embrace the potential and capabilities they offer to both staff and students.

My colleague  Karen Smith in her recent blog Six ways to embed AI writing tools in every teacher toolkit offers the following practical suggestions for approaching AI writing in the classroom:

  1. Actively build knowledge to inform decisions.
  2. Review and update academic integrity policies to keep up with advances in AI writing tools.
  3. Strategize how to build strong pedagogical practice with AI writing tools.
  4. Design thoughtful opportunities to develop AI literacy.
  5. Review and update assignments to support students in completing their best, original thinking.
  6. Emphasize a process approach to assignments.

We'd like to invite you to share what's going on in your institution or classroom. Tell us about the resources you have in your toolkit...
