Best Practice for Managing Exclusions
Hi,
My institution uses the Enhanced Similarity Report integrated with Canvas LMS. My question concerns best practices for managing exclusions on a student's report. When grading a student paper, let's say I read/skim through all the matches and conclude that the student did their own original work. Do instructors usually then grade the paper like normal, or do they go through and individually exclude every single match so that the resulting similarity score is 0%?
I realize that there isn't really a right or wrong answer, but I'm looking for advice/recommendations.
Thank you,
Tim

Commenting for visibility, this is such a great question!
We’d love to hear how other educators approach managing exclusions in the Enhanced Similarity Report. For reference, here’s Turnitin’s guide on Managing filters and exclusions in the Similarity Report
