Turnitin Educator Network (TEN) – Terms of Use
Welcome to the Turnitin Educator Network ("TEN"). By accessing or using this community, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Turnitin Privacy Policy.
1. Purpose of the Community
TEN is a professional forum intended for educators and administrators to network, share best practices, and discuss academic integrity. This platform is not for student use. Submitting papers for similarity checking or grading on this platform is strictly prohibited.
2. User Accounts
You must register with an official institutional email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Turnitin reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that suspect are fraudulent, non-educator accounts, or in violation of these Terms.
3. Community Rules & Guidelines
To maintain a professional environment, you agree to the following:
Respect and Inclusivity: Treat all members with kindness and empathy. We have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, discrimination, harassment, or hate speech.
No Similarity Checks: Do not upload student papers or any content for the purpose of generating Similarity Reports.
No Spam: Do not post advertisements unrelated to educational resources or Turnitin tools.
Confidentiality: Do not share sensitive student data (PII), confidential institutional data, or private information about others without consent.
4. User Content & Licensing
By posting content, comments, or materials ("User Content") to TEN, you retain ownership of your work, but you grant Turnitin a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and display such User Content for the purposes of operating the community and for Turnitin’s marketing and educational activities.
Marketing Usage: Turnitin may use quotes or insights shared in this community for marketing materials (e.g., social media, white papers). We will respect the attribution preferences selected during your sign-up process (Attributed, Anonymized, or Opt-Out).
Public Forum: You acknowledge that TEN is a public space. Do not post anything you wish to keep private.
5. Marketing Opportunities & Outreach
From time to time, Turnitin may identify community members for potential advocacy opportunities, including but not limited to case studies, webinars, conference panels, or beta testing. By joining TEN, you acknowledge that Turnitin may contact you regarding these opportunities. Specific permission for the use of your name, image, and likeness in high-visibility assets will be requested at that time.
6. Intellectual Property
The TEN platform, including its design, text, graphics, and underlying software, is the property of Turnitin, LLC and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
"As Is" Basis: The community is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Turnitin makes no warranties, regarding the accuracy or reliability of any content posted by users.
Liability Cap: To the fullest extent permitted by law, Turnitin shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the community.
8. Violations
Turnitin reserves the right to remove any content and suspend or ban any user who violates these Terms or the spirit of the community, at our sole discretion, without prior notice.
