Turnitin Clarity Feedback and Suggestions
Hi group,
Some educators from my school have been discussing challenges with the new platform and wanted a place to share them. I hope that this is the place and that this post allows for updates that make Clarity more educator/student friendly.
1) The ability to copy assignments from one class period to another? This may already exist, but I haven't yet found a way to do so. Instead, I have to recreate and retype each assignment for each class period.
2) We would love the ability to see student work as their working in Clarity so that we can see progress. For many of our students who fall behind, this can be helpful in keeping them on pace with assignments. As of now, we can only see their assignment once the due date has passed.
3) Could we get headers and page numbers in Clarity? Without these, it has made printing docs a bit tricky and made teaching MLA formatting a bit challenging.
4) Likewise, for students who receive extensions, the locked feature of the assignment has become a bit tricky. Assigning a separate assignment for them seems to be the only way to solve this issue.
5) It would be really helpful to consider ways to allow teachers to provide feedback on a Clarity assignment so that students have revision opportunities before submission or after if completing a second draft. This could look like many things like the ability to revise documents once returned, ability to have teacher feedback throughout the assignment's creation any time before the due date, or the ability to reuse a document on a separate assignment. I don't know what is possible but as of now, the only way to revise a document for a final draft would be for a student to download the doc, print it, receive teacher feedback on print, and then retype it in a separate assignment. Due to this problem alone, using Clarity isn't helpful for me yet since my class revolves around revision so much.
Google Docs allows for a lot of this, making it easier for this revision process; however, we really enjoy the Grammar Checker and Plagiarism features of Clarity and hope to see the program get more educator/student friendly.
Any feedback welcome! Hopeful and excited to learn more about using Clarity more efficiently and in a student friendly way!
