Submitting on Behalf of Student in New Standard Assignments

The classic version allows you to submit on behalf of students. I found this incredibly useful for a variety of reasons: students struggling to locate the saved document to upload, connection issues on student wifi, etc. Please bring this feature back for the new standard assignment!

We are have access to submit on behalf of students in the New Standard assignments (we're going via a VLE using the LTI 1.3, in case that makes a difference).
1: Non-anonymous submissions - click the 3 dots on the right of the student to get a menu, including submit on behalf of.
2: Anonymous submissions - there's a small icon above the list of students - it looks like a head; click that & you'll have access to submit on behalf of & grant extension.

Hi  , thanks so much for raising this, and  , thank you for jumping in with such clear steps (and for sharing your Dundee guide!) 🙌

Good news: submitting on behalf of students is supported in Standard assignments. (Quick side note: we dropped the “New” from “New Standard” with the release of the assignment picker back in July, so you’ll now just see these called Standard assignments.)

    Emma nailed the steps:

    • Non-anonymous submissions: Click the three dots to the right of the student’s name, then choose Submit on behalf of.
    • Anonymous submissions: Click the small head-shaped icon above the student list to find Submit on behalf of (and Grant extension).

Here’s the official guide for reference: Standard assignment: Submitting on behalf of students

Emma, you’re right that some of our guides still show the older “Submit” button instead of the new icon. I’ve passed that along to our product writers so they can update those. Thanks for catching it! ❤️

Lauren, I hope this gets you back to helping those students with tricky uploads and spotty wifi. Let us know if anything doesn’t look the way it’s described here!

    Warmly,

    Audrey, Turnitin Team
