Concerns re: changes in grading features

Hello,

Following a training session on the new Standard Turnitin Feedback Studio, which our university has adopted/will go live as of August 1st, I have concerns about a couple of features:

  • It appears that the ability to filter submissions for grading by marking groups is not available? This is something we use extensively across our programme, and is essential for managing our large classes - will this be available soon/in time for semester beginning in September 2026?
  • It appears that markers comments to students will appear as timestamped. Is this something that can be disabled? We do not wish our marking/grading to be anonymous (as we would want students to be able to contact their marker), but we would not wish timestamps to be visible.
  • The use of a 'match group in the similarity reports that lists quotes as 'good'/green is concerning, as in our discipline the use of quotes is discouraged (quotes should only be used sparingly) and formatting of quotes according to our referencing standard is essential (for example, providing page numbers of quotes). Is it possible to disable this feature?

Many thanks.

Following Elaine's comment, I've just done some testing.
In the past, I'm sure that there was a warning to the marker, if quotes had been exluded & more than 30% (I think) of the paper was quoted.
I'm no longer seeing that in Classic, nor in New Standard. Does this still apply? I was going to ask, if for cases like Elaines, individual assessors could set their 'warn if quotes more than x%" to be less than 30.

Equally, do you have any plans to check for other referencing styles - I realise too, though, that the tools is purely pattern matching, so "The cat sat on the mat" (smith 2020) would work show as 'green',, regardless of whether or not it was Smith, nor whether or not the date is correct. {Formatting deliberately wrong with Smith!)

Hi , thanks for taking the time to test this out.

On the quote percentage warning, we checked with our product team and they confirmed that “there is no quote percentage warning anymore since match groups calls that info out more explicitly now.

On your question around more robust citation/referencing checking, would you mind sharing a bit more detail, please?

Keen to hear your thoughts, we always appreciate seeing your feedback around TEN 👏

Hi  ! Really appreciate you taking the time to share such thorough feedback, this is super helpful.

Quick question before we pass this along to our product team: which LMS are you currently using?

Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from you! 👋
