Document Processor
Hi,
My institution currently has LTI 1.3 configured in Canvas for Turnitin's Feedback Studio. We're planning on transitioning to using Turnitin with the Canvas Document Processor. The Processor is currently set to Disabled and unlocked in the Canvas admin settings. We plan to change it to On (Enabled) and unlocked in the admin settings.
If we make this change in settings now, will this affect any of the assignments that have already been made with the traditional LTI 1.3 Turnitin assignment creation method? And, will the option to create an assignment using the traditional LTI 1.3 Turnitin assignment creation method still be available?
Thank you,
Tim

Hi , thanks for the question!
As long as you’re not currently using the Canvas Plagiarism Framework, you can enable the Canvas Document Processor without impacting any existing assignments created using the current LTI 1.3 Turnitin assignment workflow - those will continue to function as they do today.
The Document Processor is simply a new placement within your existing LTI 1.3 setup, so there’s no need for a dual deployment or additional configuration.
Once enabled, instructors will have the flexibility to use Turnitin within Canvas assignments (via the Document Processor) or continue creating Turnitin assignments using your existing workflow.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
