Now is a great time to re-evaluate: Not students, but your academic integrity policy

I spent 34 years as a K12 educator in U.S. public schools, and so this time of year is a bit like New Years for me. Now is the time I revisited what worked, what didn't, and what I was going to do about it. As my teacher friends look forward to summer break, it has me thinking too: What would I want to spend time reworking so it's fresh and ready for the next set of students?

The answer for me is simple: What have I--and my students--learned about using generative AI and how does this impact my classroom academic integrity policy?

Enter Turnitin's educator guide: Updating your academic integrity policy in the age of AI. This guide doesn't dictate X use of AI is un/acceptable; instead, the focus is on what factors educators need to consider before making that determination for themselves.

My only prescriptive advice? Make sure your classroom policy aligns to your institution's policies on academic integrity!
