A brief student video on AI prompting: "Clear, specific, and contextual"
I admit that "brief" may be pushing it at just under 5 minutes, but it's worth it! This video was created to introduce students to types of prompts and how to prompt to get the best possible output from AI; when they are ready for more detailed information, share the student guide, Leveraging Turnitin Clarity: A student guide to AI prompting, which is the companion piece for the video.
All examples are from the Turnitin Clarity add-on, but the message on what is needed to get the desired outcome from AI would hold true no matter which AI platform is used:
- Learning integrity >>> outsourcing thinking.
- How to get the output you want by choosing the right sort of prompt.
- Be specific, clear, and provide context to get the desired results!
Also, we tried to give examples from different steps of the writing process; we are not advocating for using all of them in a single essay, research paper, etc.!
